Larry 本來說好晚上到李華家吃飯，但是遲遲不到，李華不知道是怎么回事，
打電話到Larry 家。今天我們要學(xué)兩個(gè)常用語：comatose和 mobbed.

    LL：（Tired sounding） Hello？

    LH： Larry，你怎么還在家里，不是說好六點(diǎn)鐘到我這兒來吃飯嗎？

    LL： What ？ What time is it？

    LH：現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)快七點(diǎn)了！

    LL： Oh man ， I'm sorry Li Hua. I fell asleep when I got home from
work. I was comatose.

    LH： Coma what？你昏迷了嗎？沒出什么事兒吧？

    LL： No ， I was just exaggerating， but it was like I was in a coma.
I've been asleep for 2 hours.

    LH：你這兩天是不是又因?yàn)橼s項(xiàng)目熬夜了？

    LL： It wasn't that bad. I just didn't sleep that well last night.
My neighbor's dog was barking all night about something. I was out of
it all day， and when I got home， I just passed out， comatose.

    LH：我前天晚上在圖書館查資料，實(shí)在太累，趴在桌上就睡著了，I was totally
comatose for an hour. 最后還是圖書館的工作人員把我叫醒的，因?yàn)槿思乙�關(guān)
門了。

    LL： I remember the college library being a fine place to take a nap.

    LH：是啊，圖書館里的椅子都特別舒服，而且又安靜，最合適睡覺。

    LL： So what we are doing tonight ？ What is the plan ？ I feel refreshed
after two hours of comatose.

    LH：我本來計(jì)劃你過來以后一起吃點(diǎn)兒東西，然后出去看個(gè)電影的。

    LL： Well it might be a little late to go out to a movie since I was
comatose and slept for so long. But I've got a better idea.

    LH：快說，什么好主意？

    LL： The movie Top Mission is coming out on DVD today. How about I
stop by the rental store to borrow one and bring it over to your place
to watch after dinner ？

    LH：確實(shí)是好主意。不過Larry ，我怎么沒聽說這部電影呢？講什么的？

    LL： It's about an undercover agent.

    LH：又是間諜片！You'll put me in a coma.

    LL： OK ……Well how about I just come by and we'll worry about our
plans after we eat， I'm starving.

    LH：好吧，那你馬上過來，我去把菜熱一下。

    ******

    Larry 四十分鐘后來到李華的公寓。

    （Doorbell）

    LH： Larry，你不是說馬上過來嗎？怎么這么長(zhǎng)時(shí)間？

    LL： I'm sorry Li Hua ， the roads were mobbed.

    LH： Mobbed ？我不懂，難道路上有人聚眾鬧事嗎？

    LL： Not the Mafia Li Hua ， mobbed means extremely crowded.

    LH：哦，mobbed是擁擠的意思。這么說，今天路上車特別多嘍？

    LL： Was there ever ， it took me 15 minutes just to get two blocks
forward.

    LH：中文里這叫車水馬龍，水泄不通。

    LL： Yeah ， it was a total mob-scene.

    LH：我最受不了堵車了。一堵車我就心急如焚的。I'm glad I'm not driving
right now if it is mobbed.

    LL： Knowing you， I don't think you would do too well out there tonight.

    LH：今天下午我去圖書館借書，現(xiàn)在正趕上期中考試，圖書館里人山人海，
不知道的，還以為有人發(fā)免費(fèi)午餐呢！

    LL： I'll bet the library was mobbed. Was there anywhere to sit ？

    LH：座位早被占光了，很多學(xué)生索性坐在地上看書。

    LL： That sure sounds like it sure was mobbed. Did you get what you
were looking for at least ？

    LH：真是萬幸，我要借的書，書架上只剩下一本了，就被我搶到了手。

    LL： Good for you. Now that I've fought through the mobbed streets
to get here ， what's for dinner？

    LH：我按照新食譜做了酸辣湯，還有你最愛吃的花菜和烤雞。

    LL： Sounds great Lihua. After all that sitting in traffic， I'm famished.

    LH：如果換了我，先是comatose for two hours，然后又braved the mobbed
streets ，我也一定肚子餓得咕咕叫了。快吃吧！

    LL： Thanks Li Hua. This looks absolutely great.

    今天李華學(xué)了兩個(gè)常用語。一個(gè)是comatose指睡得不省人事。另一個(gè)是mobbed
意思是特別擁擠。
