Larry 和李華在看籃球比賽，交戰(zhàn)的一方是姚明所屬的休士頓火箭隊，另一
方是邁阿密的熱火隊。李華會學到兩個常用語：classic 和go for it.

    LL： Wow， Li Hua ， did you see that shot by Yao Ming？ Now， that
was classic ！

    LH：看到了，姚明的投籃真是一流的！你說that was classic！就是這個意
思吧。

    LL： Yes， classic means something that is really good or especially
well done.

    LH：要是姚明的隊能贏就太好了。 It will be classic.

    LL： I'm not sure that they will. Did you see that Miami Heat player
steal the ball？ Now that was a classic move！

    LH：邁阿密熱火隊雖然搶到了球，這并不保證他們就會贏呀！你看，姚明隊
的隊員緊緊地盯著對方，他們根本沒有機會投籃。哎，你看哪！火箭隊的吉祥物
火箭熊跑到比賽場上來了？

    LL： That is really funny ！ That is just classic.

    LH：火箭熊在場上干擾比賽，你還說是classic.不是說classic 是好事嗎，
這有什么好的呢？

    LL： Oh ， things that are classic are good. Clutch the Bear is doing
a good job as a mascot. His prank is well-done and that is why it is classic.

    LH：原來火箭熊是出來表演！火箭熊玩的把戲倒是很精彩，真是一流的。哎，
說到可笑的事情，你聽過 Bob的笑話嗎？

    LL： Oh ， yeah ， Bob has so many jokes and almost everyone of them，
I should say， is classic.

    LH：是啊，不知道他哪兒來的那么多笑話。每個笑話都很妙，有的時候笑得
我肚子都痛了。

    LL： I remember sometimes you laughed so hard that you cried， Li
Hua. Now， I have to say， your response was classic.

    LH：有的時候我真的笑得肚子都痛了。可這有什么好不好的？

    LL： Of course， it showed you have a great sense of humor.

    LH：那倒是，有的人對笑話毫無反應。Hey ， look ， Larry，邁阿密熱火
隊領先了！

    LL： Whoooooo-eeeeeee ！ Alright！ Awesome！

    LH： Wow， Larry，我要是有相機一定把你站在沙發(fā)上亂蹦的樣子拍下來，

    Now that would be classic ！

    LL： Look at Yao Ming setting up his free throw. He is really taking
too much time. He should just go for it.

    LH：輪到姚明罰球了。你說姚明應當Go for it ？這是什么意思呢？

    LL： Oh ， to go for it means to do something without thinking too
much about it and ignoring the risks. Yao Ming should just take his free
throw and get on with the game.

    LH：我明白了， go for it的意思是不要猶豫不決、要全力以赴。姚明罰球
是有點不緊不慢的，不過這是他的風格呀。太快了，可能投不中。糟糕！姚明罰
球沒中！

    LL： That's too bad. Say， speaking of going for it ， I hear you
are thinking of applying for a full-time teaching job.

    LH：是啊，我打算申請一個全職的教師工作，不過還沒有最后決定呢。

    LL： I think you should go for it ， Li Hua.

    LH：我知道應該去爭取，可是那個工作在外州，一想到搬家我就頭痛。

    LL： But if you don't go for it ， you may never know if the job is
good or not.

    LH：這我也知道，要不做那個工作就永遠也不知道這工作好不好。不過，我
也不想搬到外州后，萬一不理想再搬回來。

    LL： That is just one of the chances you have to take when you go
for it.

    LH：當然任何事情都有風險，找工作也一樣。

    LL： Li Hua ， sometimes when you go for it ， good things happen.

    LH：積極找工作有時會有好的結果？萬一工作不滿意怎么辦？

    LL： Well ， my friend Bob saw a posting for a job he was interested
in and decided to go for it. But his boss didn't want to see him go and
gave him a really big raise.

    LH： Bob真走運。老板聽見他要走就給他加工資。我要碰到這種老板，那該
多好呀！

    LL： I think you should apply for that teaching job. You really should
go for it ！

    LH：讓我想想再說。

    今天李華學到了兩個常用語。一個是classic ，意思是優(yōu)秀的、一流的。還
有一個是go for it 意思是不猶豫、全力爭取。
