    Ellen ： At six o'clock this evening. Marilyn ： By plane ？

    Ellen ： No ， by train. Marilyn： Are we picking him up at the station？

    Ellen ： Not Grandpa. He doesn't want anybody picking him up. He likes
to be independent. Marilyn： Huh. Ellen ： Oh ， let's go upstairs and
prepare Grandpa's room. Marilyn ： Great！ Let's do it！

    Richard ： Good morning ， Mom. Robbie： Morning. Ellen ： Well ，
hi， fellas. Richard： Hello. Marilyn ： Hi ， honey. Richard ＆Robbie
： Morning， Marilyn. Marilyn ： We're going upstairs to set up Grandpa's
room. There's coffee ready.

    「語言點精講」

    1. You want coffee or tea ？

    你要咖啡還是要茶？是"Do you want coffee or tea？" 的非正式說法。

    這是選擇疑問句。注意Ellen 使用了先升后降的語調，即連詞or前面的部分
用升調，后面的部分用降調。

    2. At this time tommorrow morning Grandpa will be sitting in the kitchen
with us. will be sitting：將坐在。動詞的將來進行時可表示在將來某一時刻
或某段時間正在進行的動作。

    3. When does he arrive？

    他什么時候到？一般現在時可表示安排或計劃好的將來的動作（常用come，
go， arrive ， leave等動詞）。

    4. By plane ？—— No ， by train. by plane ，乘飛機。by train，乘
火車。用介詞by表示交通方式，又如： by boat（乘船），by bus（乘公共汽車），
by taxi （乘出租汽車）。

    5. Are we picking him up at the station ？

    我們要去車站接他嗎？

    pick sb. up ：用車來接某人。pick up 是短語動詞。短語動詞是由動詞與
介詞或副詞組成的固定詞組，又如后文出現的set up（準備，收拾）也是短語動
詞。

    6. Well ， hi ， fellas. fella（小伙子，孩子，伙計），是fellow的非
正式場合的用語。
