    「原句」I give you my word. I'll quit smoking today.「解說」I give
you my word.意思是“我向你保證，一言為定”，泛指沒有白紙黑字的口頭承諾。

    要贏取對方信任，還有其它不同的說法，如：I promise.我向你保證。/ I
swear.我發誓。/ Believe me. 相信我吧。

    2.他有膽量當眾指責老板。

    「原句」He had the nerve to scold his boss in public. 「解說」have
the nerve for/to do sth.，也可以說have a nerve或者have some nerve ，有
勇氣做某事，有膽量做某事。

    3.除非事關生死，否則別打攪我。

    「原句」Don't disturb me unless it's a matter of life and death.「
解說」a matter of life and death - something that is very important or
serious 生死攸關之事，非常重要或嚴肅的事

in life.「解說」come and go 來來往往，轉瞬即逝。Money will come and go.
也可以翻作“錢乃身外之物”。

robbery.「解說」behind bars 坐牢，在監獄服刑

    「原句」There were street musicians all over the city playing Christmas
tunes.「解說」tune是“曲調，旋律”的意思，要表達“演奏合調”我們可以說
play in tune，相反“不合調”就是play out of tune.

    「原句」Honestly speaking ， I couldn't care less about the mid-term
elections.「解說」couldn't care less用來表達對某事一點也不在乎，一點也
沒興趣；相反，couldn't care more就表示很在乎，相當于care a lot.
