Order, Permit (1) 1) Why did the company demand his resignation? 為什么公司命令他辭職呢？ * demand 是理所當然的要求，意義強烈，因而使用在日常生活中須加以注意。 2) He would direct the workman to use his plans. 他為了執行自己的計劃，給員工下了指示。 * direct 是給予指示、下達訓示的意思。 3) I must insist you finish what you have started! 我是說一旦開始的事就必須堅持到底！ 4) He commanded the soldiers to fire. 他命令士兵開火。 * command 是指非常嚴格的命令，意味著絕對服從。 5) They enjoin us to follow their example. 他們強要我們以他們為榜樣。（有些象繞口令。） * enjoin 有給予強有力的訓示的感覺。意味著學校的老師以至法律上的命令。 6) Why am I always expected to pay the bills? 為什么老是由我來付賬呢？ 7) Be careful whom you appoint to the position of manager. 你該當心你所任命的那個經理。 8) Are you required to fill a quota of work each month? 你被要求每月都要達成工作的目標嗎？ |
