　　完形填空(Cloze Test)也稱短文填空或綜合填空，它考核的是考生綜合運用語言的能力。由于自然語言都存在冗余現象，這一現象使考生在閱讀一篇文章的時候，即使文章被抽去部分的詞，考生仍然可能根據對剩余部分的分析來理解整篇文章的思想，并可推斷出缺損部分的信息，而這種推斷信息的準確度就取決于考生綜合運用語言的能力。

　　《同等學力申碩碩士學位全國聯考英語考試大綱》規定：完形填空是一篇150～200詞之間的一般性短文。短文中有10個空白，每個空白為一題�？忌�須在理解短文意思的基礎上從為每個空白提供的四個選擇項中選出一個最佳答案。

　　這一部分對多數考生而言是考試的難點，得分率低。下面通過完形填空真題為例，幫助考生熟悉、分析這種題型的特點和考點，以便于采取相應的科學的復習方法和運用合理的解題思路和方法技巧。

　　Visitors to this country are normally admitted for six months, but foreign students can usually stay for one year.
